Swiss restaurant on National Public Radio

Great. National Public Radio (NPR) reports about
the restaurant "Blinde Kuh" (Blind Cow) in Zurich, Switzerland. The place offers up a different dining experience: Guests eat in complete darkness and are served by blind or visually handicapped waitstaff.

McSweeney's internet tendency

What a great and unusual website discovery. McSweeney's Internet Tendency is an offshoot of Timothy McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, "a journal created by nervous people in relative obscurity". The site writes about "history's notable persons reconsidered". It's motto is beautiful: 'Taking broken wings, learning to sigh again'.

Two blog moguls at war

After months of subtle digs at each other, blog entrepreneurs Jason Calacanis and Nick Denton of WeblogsInc. and Gawker Media respectively have for the first time openly attacked and responded to each other on their blogs.

The weblog project

Can't wait until it's done. The Weblog Project is the "first open source, free, grassroots movie to support and promote the blogosphere where featured stars, producers, fundraisers and actors are the bloggers themselves."

The vanishing newspaper

Today at 2:00 pm there will be a webcast for a Media Center discussion about the future of the newspaper sparked by Philip Meyer, Knight Chair in Journalism at the University of North Carolina who has recently wrote "The Vanishing Newspaper". The webcast panel will be led by Jeff Jarvis of Buzzmachine. The panel will discuss:
- Is journalism and its social service function still important?
- Where does the spirit and tradition of socially responsible journalism and a better-informed society manifest in new media forms?
- How can historic mass-media institutions adapt to and thrive in the age of We Media? What should be their role?
- What will the newspaper of the future look like as a business and as a product?
Good questions. I definitely wanna know and I will tune in...

How tunes get stuck in your head

I always wanted to know! Scientists may have found what makes a tune catchy, after locating the brain area where a song's "hook" gets caught.

Make a fortune with bar bets

From the Weekly World News:
Barfly Jason Fernway is the world's most unusual professional gambler. For the last 17 years he's supported himself exclusively on bar bets -- and he's raked in a small fortune! The Boston man's net worth is now an estimated 8 million and he plans to retire - at the tender age of 38. "I never had much luck with cards and I like the friendly atmosphere in bars much better than casinos," Fernway says.

Great idea. BloggersMarket.com, a network for free online classifieds has been launched.
